Privacy Policy

Short version: Flatline collects the email address and job/monitor names you give us, the check-in timestamps your monitors send, and basic technical data needed to run the service and stop abuse. We don't sell your data, and we don't use tracking cookies. Billing runs through Stripe — we never see or store your card details.
What we collect
Directly from you:
- Email address — used to send alert emails, confirmation links, dashboard access links, and billing receipts.
- Monitor names — the labels you give the jobs, scripts, or agents you're watching (e.g.
nightly-backup.sh). - Check-in (ping) data — timestamps of when your monitors check in, so we can tell when one has gone quiet.
- Billing information — handled entirely by Stripe. We receive your email, subscription plan, and Stripe's internal customer/subscription IDs, but never your card number.
Automatically:
- IP address — logged briefly at signup to rate-limit abuse (e.g. mass automated monitor creation). Not used for tracking or profiling.
- Site analytics — we use Cloudflare Web Analytics on flatlinehq.com, which is cookieless and doesn't track you across sites. It gives us aggregate visit counts, not individual visitor profiles.
How we use it
- To operate the monitors you create and send you alerts when one goes quiet or recovers.
- To send transactional email — confirmation links, dashboard access links, billing receipts, and service notices.
- To process payments and manage subscriptions.
- To prevent abuse of the free tier (rate limiting by IP and email).
- To understand aggregate site usage and improve the product.
We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising or share it with data brokers.
Who we share it with
Flatline runs on a small set of infrastructure providers, each of which processes data on our behalf under their own privacy and security terms:
- Stripe — payment processing and subscription billing.
- Resend — delivery of transactional email (alerts, confirmations, receipts).
- Cloudflare — hosting, our database, and cookieless site analytics.
We don't share your data with anyone else, except where required by law.
Cookies
Flatline's marketing site and dashboard don't set tracking or advertising cookies. Our site analytics (Cloudflare Web Analytics) work without cookies or any persistent identifier tied to you.
Data retention
We keep your monitors, check-in history, and account data for as long as your account is active. If you'd like your data deleted, email us (see below) and we'll remove it, aside from what we're required to retain for billing and tax records.
Your rights
You can ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal data we hold about you at any time by emailing support@flatlinehq.com. You can also cancel your subscription yourself at any time from your dashboard.
Security
Data is stored on Cloudflare's infrastructure and transmitted over HTTPS. Access to administrative tools is restricted and key-protected. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable, industry-standard measures to protect your information.
Children's privacy
Flatline isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of Flatline after a change means you accept the updated policy.
